As a writer and speaker, Charles Eisenstein brings clear insights into the history of civilization, economics, spirituality, the ecology movement, and how myth and narrative influence culture. Arguing that global culture is immersed in a destructive “story of separation,” Charles says one of the main goals of his work is to present an alternative “story of interbeing” in which all participants in societal debates are understood to inhabit a fundamental web of relationship.
“If there are public figures I consider dangerous and worthy of opposition,” Charles observes, “perhaps my first task is to reflect on what it might be like to be that person, to see the world from their eyes as opposed to taking immediate action on the assumption that those with different views are motivated by unmitigated evil.”
Charles calls Rhode Island home, and shares his house with his wife Stella and son Cary, a dog named Inka, and several mice he says are not on the lease agreement.
