Our Vision
To hold this network as an oasis of resonance and interbeing for like-hearted people anchored in content created by Charles Eisenstein in order to support the actualization of a more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.
To hold this network as a mother-tree to support and grow independent islands/communities of sanity and reverence within and outside this network.
Our Mission
- To serve as a place for learning, unlearning, building relationships, and networking.
- To cultivate sanity and reverence through online practices, video calls, and in-person gatherings held by both Charles and members.
- To hold space for human connections so that members may foster a sense of community and form smaller pockets of fellowship through resonance and shared interests. (See groups, pods and communities)
- To offer our own network space as a model for more islands of new stories to form.
Our Offerings (Purposes)
- Access to a global network for meaningful interaction through practices of reverence (see posting guidelines and the common sense rules)
- Participation in Charles Eisenstein's live on-line events, creative projects, in-person events, and course forums (Charles’ essays are published separately on Substack)
- An invitation to launch your own creative projects within Sutra.co
- Support for nurturing local connections
Is NAAS a Community?
Since the word “community” is used in the URL and the platform, this question is an important inquiry to which a clear answer is needed.
The answer is both “yes” and “no.” It is a community only for those who organically attract each other and form deeper relationships through their resonance and shared aspirations.
NAAS in and of itself is only a platform where like-hearted people rendezvous to learn and cross pollinate ideas in order to build a more beautiful world our hearts know is possible in their own lives. It is not a community simply because it is called one, and by nature of it being held online, it imposes limitations for a conventional idea of community to prevail and last.
Over the last few years, many people have come through this space–some of whom have left after a while, and some of whom have stayed. There have been former NAAS members who have successfully created their own online networks outside of NAAS, as well as many smaller pockets of communities within NAAS, which you can discover as special interest groups and pods once you become a member.
Members have declared themselves to be “permanent members” of NAAS And many said that NAAS has changed their lives for the better, or some have even shared that NAAS has become their life line.
As hosts for NAAS, our ultimate hope is for more and more similar or greater spaces to be created all over the world to make the world more beautiful through our practices.
What We Do Not Offer
A network like ours can serve as an incubator to form in-person communities, self-organize around special interests, and heal trauma. Although these are beautiful functions of groups, they are not our platform’s specific focus. We do not take responsibility for, or provide technical and administrative support towards these endeavors.
Our primary focus is to maintain a network of forums for Charles’ work, and our capacity for supporting needs beyond this aim is limited. We also do not provide conflict mediation services on the platform. We invite you to resolve conflict outside of the platform, temporarily disabling the group if needed. All obvious violations to our posting guidelines posts will be removed.
Moderation
Our network relies on member moderation. We value the necessity of discussion on difficult subjects for it provides an opportunity to expand views and perspectives especially when the conversation is conducted with curiosity to understand.
Over the course of many years, many long-time members have developed a keen capacity to hold difficult conversations in civility and respect online without violating our common sense rules and posting guidelines. However, we do remove posts that are in violation.
Periodic Network Resets
As any online platform continuously updates their network tools, we, too, have to modify our space accordingly. We will make announcements in advance as early as possible before any major change. Generally, you can expect a change before any major launch of a new program or course. When that happens, we sometimes remove all members and re-open for rejoining after the reset. So if you are not a regular participant, it is possible you may miss important reset announcements. Thank you for your understanding in advance.
Our Appreciation
We hope that you will find nurturing resonance with our vision, mission, and offerings - and we accept that you may not agree with all we offer. We welcome you nonetheless (and all the more!). By joining, however, you agree to abide in the practice of reverence, supplemented and supported by our common sense rules.
Finally, we thank you for your support and your contributions through your involvement. Our support, appreciation, and love are with you always.
In Loving Service,
Patsy & Charles
