Live in Boulder, Live in Austin, Live on Instagram (?)
Quick announcement. I don’t do a lot of in-person events these days, so when I do I like to make them known. Also, I’m starting separate sections (“Charles Eisenstein announcements” and one “Charles Eisenstein essays”) so you know which is which in your inbox.
Boulder: The Next Five Years
Event description: Tom Atlee once said, ‘Things are getting better and better and worse and worse faster and faster.” The next five years will see economic, political, social, and ecological turmoil, unlike anything that my generation or even my parents’ generation have experienced in this country. This evening, I will talk about where we must operate from –what consciousness, what story, what mythology – in order to ride these challenges into a more beautiful world and a more alive one. Together, we will also attune to and practice a specific transformative tool. The rehearsal is over.
The event organizers couldn’t accommodate self-determined fees on their platform. So, we have a $33 ticket price, but you can call the box office to pay any amount (more, less, or even zero) and still get a ticket. Information and tickets here.
Austin: The Independent National Convention
I’m just one of many speakers at INC, alongside Tulsi Gabbard, Dennis Kucinich, and tons of others including my friend Zach Bush, who is a terrific speaker. You can get $50 off with this promo code: $50OFFMOREBEAUTIFULWORLD. Register here.
The organizer of INC asked if we could have a conversation on Instragram Live. I thought he meant on his channel, but it turned out he wanted me to host him. “You have 67,000 followers,” he said. I was quite shocked, since I never pay attention to IG. I didn’t even know how to get on IG Live. But I figured it out. I was like, “You mean I can just click this button and start spouting out my thoughts any time I want?” Imagine that. I like that kind of spontaneous, free-form setup. So I’ve decided to do it again soon. Not sure when. But soon. My Instagram user name is charles_eisenstein.
And Finally
My last essay, How the Environmental Movement Can Find Its Way Again, I consider one of the most important I’ve done recently. Please read it and spread it. Also, on a similar theme, a podcast interview with Alpha Lo, titled Water and the Living Earth.
